Charles Purdy: I’m Charles Purdy with some tips for transportation tipping. A taxicab ride is one of those luxury personal expenses for which tipping is customary and necessary. We tip between 15 and 20 percent, which is a dollar or two for a cab ride that costs between five and ten dollars. Tip even more than that for a ride to the airport or if the cabdriver does something extraordinary like helping you with your luggage or alerting you to some bizarre conspiracy theory. If you elect not to take a taxi, and drive your own car, remember that the valet parker also gets tipped usually between two and five dollars.
