Back to top Sign Up and Log In
How do I sign up to become a Member of SheZoom?
Look up at the top of the page, on the right, where it says, "Sign In." Click the link and it will generate a short yet amusing form to fill out. Fill it out, hit "Submit"...Welcome! You're a SheZoom member. If you go check your email, you'll receive an email confirming your email address in a New York minute.
What if I don't receive a confirmation email in a New York minute?
Wait until, say, a New Jersey minute or even a laid-back San Francisco minute before panicking. OK, now panic. No. Actually, go down and move your car. Or take the clothes out of the washer and put them in the dryer. Now check your email again. If you still didn't receive an email confirmation, search deep down inside yourself and ask the following four questions:
Why is this night different...
No, wait. Wrong four questions. Here:
- Could this email have gotten hopelessly trapped in my SPAM filter? (Go look.)
- Am I checking the same email address I gave SheZoom? (Check all your email addresses.)
- Could I somehow have provided SheZoom with the wrong email address? Be honest with yourself. If so, we're afraid you'll have to schlep all the way back to the Sign In page to re-register. (We promise it'll be worth it.)
- There isn't really a fourth question.
How do I login to or logout of SheZoom?
We knew you'd ask that. That's why we've outfitted our homepage with easy-to-find Username and Password fields. In addition, every SheZoom page is cleverly adorned with a convenient Log In / Log Out link on its upper right-hand corner.
And because we take hospitality seriously - after all, we know you have feelings - you'll never be automatically logged out of SheZoom. That would be rude. To log out, you must voluntarily click on a Logout link.
How do I retrieve my Username or Password?
If you're not logged in, send an email to SheZoom Customer Support stating either your Username or your password, and SheZoom Customer Support will then verify your email address with what you've provided and send you an email with the information you requested.
If you're logged in, go to your My Account page and click the Forgot Username or Forgot Password link. Fill out the form on the following page and we'll send you an email with the information you requested.
How can I change my password?
Are you logged in? If not, go log in with your existing Password. Now, at the top of that page, click the link to your My Account page; then click Change Account Settings. You'll be asked to whip up a nice new Password. Click the Submit button and you'll be rid of that nasty old Password once and for all!
This is so embarrassing. I can't remember my Username or my Password.
If you can't remember either one, go take a nap or a long refreshing bath and try again later. We find thin strips of fresh baby cucumber over the eyes followed by a sobering glance at your last mobile phone bill to be a stimulating memory picker-upper.
If you still can't remember your Username or Password, contact us. Using a clever pastiche of wily wit and technical panache, we'll figure out who you are, keep your confidential information confidential, and we'll be reacquainted with one another in a jiffy.
Back to top Uploading Video
How do I upload video to SheZoom?
Where have you been all our lives? Uploading video is simply a snap at SheZoom. When you click the Upload link on the right-hand side of any SheZoom page, you'll be asked to select a video file on your computer to upload. Now, fill out the form, telling us a few things about your video. Click the Submit button and voilà! Your video's gone to SheZoom for review.
Need directions? To plumb the depths of the upload process in more detail, please get down with our Upload Demo page. We want your upload to go down smoothly here at SheZoom, so if uploading is a downer, by all means let us know what's up with that.
When will I be able to see my video on SheZoom?
SheZoom makes every effort to review all videos within 48 hours, with the exception of major holidays and weekends, and really really important parties, and, you know, sometimes someone needs a mental health day here and there, or has cramps or a migraine or whatever. Even so, it's rarely more than 48 hours.
It's been 48 hours, why hasn't my video appeared?
Ah, yes, well. The two most likely reasons SheZoom has not posted your video are that either the content didn't pass SheZoom Community Standards or Terms of Service, or there was a technical problem viewing the video. SheZoom customer support will send you an email letting you know we are not posting it, and why. Perhaps you only need to tweak it a tiny bit, technical or otherwise, and re-send. Then again, perhaps not. For more information about SheZoom's content policies, visit our SheZoom Community Standards and our Terms of Service pages.
Can I upload multiple videos at the same time?
Although we're sure you're an adept multi-tasker, uploading your videos one at a time makes the whole process more streamlined for us. We here at SheZoom not only like to keep things organized, but we're also nosey, so we like each video to be individually, er, wrapped.
Why do I have to indicate whether or not my video is suitable only for viewers 18 and over?
Think of it this way: As a member of the SheZoom community, you want to respect your fellow members, right? By accurately describing your video, you'll ensure that fellow members don't accidentally watch potentially embarrassing videos in front of their kids, or their creepy next-door neighbor, or in an awkward setting such as their kid's orthodontist's office, in the lunchroom at work, etc.
If SheZoom does see undesignated adult-only videos trying to slip by unnoticed, we will designate that video on behalf of the member. Isn't that nice of us? And slap your hand, too. We still like you, we just think you're, um, really artistic, that's all.
Back to top Video Content
What types of video content are only acceptable to viewers 18 and over?
One category of video content that is only acceptable to viewers 18 and over is a video that uses profanity or adult (nudge, nudge; wink, wink) situations. In short, if you would be embarrassed to watch it in front of your mother, it's probably for the 18-and-over Group. Then again, of course, we have not met your mother. But we're sure she's very nice. And tasteful! However, if you're reading this and you're between 13 and 17, everything your mother does is embarrassing, but that's another story. Excuse me, but don't you have homework to do?
OK, so what happens to my video if I say it's only acceptable for viewers 18 and over?
When a Member tells SheZoom their video is only acceptable for those 18 and over, viewers are notified of this designation immediately before viewing the video. An annoying but tasteful page will come up, reminding viewers that the individual who posted the video recommended that it be viewed only by those 18 and over. We know, bummer.
What kind of video content does SheZoom absolutely just not allow?
SheZoom does not allow pornography, "gratuitous" or graphic violence, or hate speech on it's site. Extremely bad taste is also discouraged, even while using SheZoom, so would you mind nixing the REO Speedwagon Tribute, whoever the hell they are, please? In addition, no material copyrighted by anyone other than yourself is allowed. This rules out last night's Letterman's Top Ten list, even if it was really funny. This hoo-ha over copyrighted stuff can get rather complicated, so, for all of the above, please peruse SheZoom's content policies, which are vividly described in our SheZoom Community Standards and Terms of Service.
Back to top Sharing Videos
How can I share videos with others?
Here at SheZoom, just like at your nephew's preschool, we like to encourage sharing. There are a number of ways to share a video using those links over there, to the immediate right of the SheZoom Video Player:
- Click the Share link and copy the correct URL below to send the video to others.
- Email the video by using the Email function next to the Video Player.
- Click the Favorites button to list the video on your Channel page.
- Embed the video in your social networking pages, blog or other personal website (see below).
How do I add SheZoom videos to my blog?
Embedding a SheZoom video - always tastefully dressed in its natty, custom-made SheZoom player - in your favorite content-sharing site is pretty easy. You can embed a video right into your blog or other personal website by clicking the Share link to the right of the video viewer and copying the Embed code and pasting it into your site. Your video will appear wherever you asked it to appear.
How can I share videos on other content-sharing sites, such as MySpace, Digg or Del.icio.us?
Click the Share button to the right of the SheZoom video player, and use the pulldown menu to select the site of your choice. Then log in to the other site, if necessary, and post according to that site's directions. If you need the video's URL, it is available just above the pulldown menu.
Back to top Channel Set Up
How do I set up my Channel?
The instant you sign up for SheZoom and complete your answers to thought-provoking questions for your profile set up, an amazing chain of events is set into motion. Like magic, a Channel is created just for you. You may also access the Channel Setup page via your My Account page.
What if I need to answer the door or I suddenly realize I've left the dog tied up in front of the cleaners and I've barely written anything yet?
Man, tell me about it. By all means, go get your dog! We encourage our members have a normal life so that they'll have something to shoot video about, so don't worry, we'll still be here when you get back. Your computer may fall asleep, but the Channel Setup page will not time out. Just give us a gentle poke and we'll spring back to life. If for some reason little gremlins stole in and surfed the 'net while you were gone, you can always access the Channel Setup page through the My Account page.
OK, so what happens if I decide to make my information public?
You might think that the only people who find your videos interesting are you and your friends and family. OK, your family. All right, how about your mother? However, you'd be amazed at how engaging your personal stories can be to others, especially kindred spirits for whom your work might speak quite eloquently. On the other side of the trailer park, your video might bring an enlightening perspective to someone who would otherwise not understand a person or even a culture like yours. This is, after all, an international medium. That's why we encourage you to engender a richer experience on SheZoom by making your information public. When you make your information public, it appears on your profile, and then all visitors to SheZoom can view it. This way, Members can find you and your videos. Of course, when setting up your Channel, you still have the option to keep any piece of information about yourself private.
What happens if I really want to keep my information private?
Oh, that's fine. Really. This just means that others cannot see particular pieces of your information, videos, favorites or interesting things about you unless they're lucky enough to be personally invited to the private view of your Channel page. To allow that special someone to view your private info, you must send them a Friend Request, which they must accept. In turn, you must accept a Friend Request from that special someone. We admit, this makes you rather mysterious and therefore quite intriguing. However, keeping information private means that other Members are less likely to find you or your fabulous private oeuvres on SheZoom.
How do I change information about myself in my Channel?
To change the information in your Channel profile, go to your My Account page and click the Changes to My Channel Page link. Here, you can feel free to change anything you like. Redefine yourself to your heart's content, just like Madonna, or David Bowie, or Prince. You can even rethink all your Public or Private designations...just like, um, Madonna, David Bowie, or, um, Prince.
Back to top Managing Your Channels
What's the difference between the public and private views of my Channel?
Every SheZoom Member has both a public Channel view and a private Channel view. When you keep your information public, all who come visiting can see it. If you keep it private, only the SheZoom Friends you designate, and who have also friended you, may see your private information and videos. Keeping most of your information public provides a richer experience on SheZoom, and allows other Members to find you and your oeuvres on SheZoom. When you keep information private, others cannot see your information or videos unless they're lucky enough to be personally invited.
Others cannot see your information or videos on the site, unless you invite them.
How do I add videos to my Channel page?
When you upload a video to SheZoom (with the intention of making it public) - once approved - it will automatically appear in the My Videos section of your Channel page. If you have chosen to keep the video private, then, after it is approved, it will appear in the My Videos section of your Channel page, but only those who you have friended and have friended you, and approved to see your private videos may see your videos.
How do I remove videos from my Channel page?
To remove a video from your Channel page, go to your My Account page and click Manage My Videos. On that page, you may remove videos from SheZoom. When you remove a video from SheZoom it removes the video from your Channel. Like it never even happened. If only life was so simple.
How do I add Friends to my Channel page?
Want to make new friends without the muss and fuss of seeming needy or unpopular? Add some SheZoom Friends to your Channel page! Casually stride up to the left-hand side of another Member's Channel page, and, with a devil-may-care attitude, click the Friend link. You'll be asked to ponder whether or not you'd like this Member to have access to the private view of your Channel. Then the other Member will be sent an email asking whether or not to accept your Friend request. If they don't, fine; it's their loss, right? You've got other fish to fry.
Someone is getting on my nerves. How do I remove or block a Friend?
To remove or block a Friend, go to you're My Account page. Click on Manage All Contacts or Manage Friends. On either of these pages, select the annoying Member and choose either Remove or Block. If you remove the Member, you are removing them from your list of Friends and their Username and icon will no longer appear on your Channel page. If you block the Member, they may not contact you, but their Username and icon will continue to appear on your Channel page. Isn't it nice that managing Friends can be so easy?
How do I add Favorites to my Channel page?
This is easy as pie. Actually, much easier. Eating pie is easy, but making a good pie crust these days can certainly be a challenge. Especially without hydrogenated fats! Anyway, next to every Video Player is a Favorites link. Click this link and then the Save to Favorites button to add a video to your Favorites list.
How do I remove Favorites from my Channel page?
To remove Favorites from your Channel, go to your My Account page and click the Manage Favorites link. On the next page, you'll see a list of your Favorites. Select the Remove box(es) for the video(s) you'd like to remove, click "Submit," and they're toast!
How do I add a Featured Video to my Channel page?
To add a Featured Video to your Channel, go to your My Account page and click on "Manage Your Featured Video." On the following page, select "Featured Video" and tell us a little about why you chose to feature this video, and click "Submit." Your Featured Video can be one you made, or one made by another SheZoom Member.
How do I remove or add a Featured Video on my Channel page?
Feng Shui your Channel page by freshening up your Featured Video. To remove a Featured Video from your Channel, go to your My Account page and click "Changes to My Channel Page." To add a video, select a video you've uploaded from the list. Then, presto! It's your Featured Video. To remove a video, delete all the information about the existing Featured Video, and click "Submit." The Featured Video will be removed immediately, and balance and serenity will be restored. Namaste.
How do I remove comments from my Channel page?
You may want to edit the comments on your Channel page from time to time. To remove comments, go to your My Account page. Click on the Manage Comments link. Then check the box next to the comments you'd like to remove, and click "Submit." This will leave another comment instead, but this comment comments on the fact that the original comment has been removed by the Channel page's owner. We have no more comments.
Back to top The Pink Pamphlet: How to Manage Your Private View?
How do I invite others to see the private view of my Channel?
Wow, what a question. It kind of reminds us of those little pink pamphlets our mothers gave us when we were 12, the ones put out by the Modess Corporation called "What Every Girl Should Know."
You can rest assured that only registered SheZoom Members may access the private view of your Channel. Friends can access the private view of your Channel in two ways:
- Way one: When you click the "Friend" link on a Member's Channel page, you're prompted to indicate whether you'd like this Member to have access to the private view of your Channel. If this makes you at all uncomfortable, by all means say "Why no, thank you very much." Perhaps you need some time to get to know one another. Perhaps not. But every woman has a right to change her mind. So if you'd like to give them access to your Private view at a later date, there's...
- Way two: visit your My Account page and click "Manage All Contacts" or "My SheZoom Friends." On the following page, check the box next to the Member's Username and click the, um, "Submit" button.
In both cases, Once they also Friend you, let the games begin. In the privacy of your own Channel, of course.
Can I manage my private view the same way as my public view?
Yes, the private view functions the same way as the public view, only you must choose which Friends can see your Channel's private view.
Now you know "What Every Girl Should Know."
Back to top SheZoom Friends and Other Contacts
How do I upload my Contact List?
We haven't figured that out yet.
How do I Friend other SheZoom Members?
To add SheZoom Friends to your Channel, casually stride up to the left-hand side of another Member's Channel page, and, with a devil-may-care attitude, click the Friend link. You'll be asked to ponder whether or not you'd like this Member to have access to your Private Channel. Then the other Member will be sent an email asking whether or not to accept your Friend request. If they don't, fine; it's their loss, right? You've got other fish to fry.
Someone is getting on my nerves. How do I remove or block a Friend?
Let's face it, sometimes Friends need managing. To remove or block a Friend, go to your Account Page. Click on Manage Friends. On this pages, select the annoying Member and choose either Remove or Block. If you remove the Member, you are removing them from your list of Friends and their Username will no longer appear on your Channel page. If you block the Member, they may not contact you, but they will continue to appear on your Channel page. Isn't it nice that managing Friends can be so easy?
Back to top Removing Videos / Removing Comments
How do I remove a video?
To remove a video, go to your My Account page and click Manage My Videos. On that page, you may remove videos from SheZoom. When you remove a video from SheZoom it removes the video from your Channel. Like it never even happened. If only life was so simple.
How do I remove a Comment that I made?
To remove a Comment, on your Channel just click the Remove link next to the offending Comment. You may remove a Comment you left on someone else's Channel by clicking the same Remove link. You cannot remove other people's Comments on other people's Channels, now matter how much your mouse finger is wants to. On that, we have no more comments.
Back to top Reporting Obnoxious Members
If a Member is not following SheZoom's Terms of Service or Community Guidelines, what can I do about it?
If a Member has uploaded a video that you feel is inappropriate, let us know using the Flag as Inappropriate area to the right of the Video Player. You may also contact SheZoom Customer Support with your concerns, or other issues regarding Bad Behavior. Where there's Bad Behavior, you can rest assured, we're there.
